Shawne A. Blackburn, MA, NCC, LMHC
I received my Masters degree from the University of New Mexico in May of 2006. I have experience working with children and adolescents on issues ranging from divorce to disruptive behavior and enjoy working with these populations. I also have experience working with substance abuse issues, gay and lesbian issues, and life transitions for both men and women. I am open to working with all populations. I am experienced in working both individually and in group settings. I take a very holistic approach in my counseling because I believe that you must look at the individual as a whole and sometimes the entire family to overcome obstacles. I promote positive growth in my counseling and provide a very caring and nurturing environment. I am comfortable using many different therapeutic techniques ranging from cognitive behavior therapy to existential approaches. I believe that the modality used depends on the client and the place they are in their lives I believe that everyone has the power within themselves to make lasting changes.

Paul Chavez, MA, LMHC
Paul Chavez MA, LMHC, is a gifted intuitive counselor who enjoys and encourages connecting to learn, discover, and heal. During his graduate studies, Paul focused on multicultural, socioeconomic, and gendered
issues, post-modern theories, gay, lesbian, and transgender concerns, adventure-based experiential counseling and Ecopsychology. His simple goal is to show you how to grow in your power, self-acceptance, and happiness.

As a counselor, my intent is to “meet you where you are” in the moment that all healing takes place. My purpose is to connect with you and the power within you. My sessions are designed to let you experience how connecting with self automatically connects to one's purpose in life and determines one's connections with others. It's easy to learn to act in agreement with your feelings, Acting in agreement with your feelings
allows for the feedback loop to empower, heal, and create more fluidity to your being. By accepting yourself, true freedom is felt and achieved. 505.688.1228.

I work with children, teenagers, and adults of all ages. Rhonda Neswald-Potter, Ph.D., LPCC, ACS
My belief is that each of us is in the process of being and becoming. Ideally, counseling facilitates this process by empowering the human being to make positive choices in regards to that growth process. My counseling interests include spiritual issues in counseling, expressive arts and nonverbal modes of communication, as well as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Issues in Counseling. I normally work with seniors, adults and adolescents. In addition to mood disorders, anxiety, anger, and issues of adjustment, I often work with individuals who have experienced trauma or those who may have difficulty verbalizing their experiences. I have a strong background in clinical supervision and provide private supervision for counselors in the Albuquerque area.

My undergraduate work was completed at the Louisiana Scholars’ College, where I earned a degree in Humanities and Social Thought. I earned my Masters degree from Northwestern State University in 1998, and my Doctorate in Counseling from the University of New Mexico in 2001. I served as a visiting faculty member in the Counseling Program at the University of New Mexico from 2002-2005, where I taught graduate courses in group counseling, theories, ethics, and helped design the first LGBT course for the program. I currently teach part time for Walden University. I have served in many professional roles, including as the 2006-2007 president of the New Mexico Counseling Association. I am currently serving on the Professional Standards Committee for the American Counseling Association and I have published several professional articles at the national level.
